The show is shot in a mockumentary style, making the comedy that much more effective. Steve Carrell as boss Michael Scott is legitimately one of the funniest men on television.
Entourage- This Hbo hit about a Hollywood leading man and his friends is edgy, raunchy, and of course, hilarious. The boys get drive costly cars, live in houses adequate with infinity pools high definition tvs, and generally wreak havoc on the city of Los Angeles. Their antics are often shocking and crude, but always entertaining.
Parks and Recreation-Another Nbc hit shot in a mockumentary style like The Office, this comedy stars hilarious Snl alum Amy Poehler, as well as old cast member from The Office, Rasida Jones. The show takes place in small town Indiana, and follows the city's officials as they misguidedly exertion to keep the city running smoothly.
Modern Family- This new hit show on Abc has already earned itself a Golden Globe nomination in recognition of its comedic genius. Following three families as they deal with the hilarious happenings of day to day family life, it is clever, insightful and incredibly entertaining.
Glee- Just beating out modern family for the Golden Globe, this Fox show about a high school Glee club has come to be a runaway success. The show is part comedy, part musical, that also sends a touching message about acceptance and understanding, Plus, the music is breathtaking and will have you dancing in your living room.
Flight of the Conchords- someone else Hbo comedy that has a cult following, Flight of the Conchords is a hilarious look at two friends from New Zealand attempting to break into the music manufactures in New York. They are decidedly clueless, though always loveable, and their band's manager Murray may be one of the funniest characters on television.
30 Rock- Nbc's comedic giant has blown the competition out of the water in the last couple of years. always sweeping the awards show and a favorite of critics, 30 Rock has set the appropriate for television comedy. Created by Snl alum Tina Fey and also starring Alec Baldwin, the show takes place on the set of a fictionalized show modeled after Saturday Night Live.
Eastbound & Down- This dark Hbo comedy is about a washed up sports star who returns to his hometown to teach physical education. He is inappropriate and crude, and spends most of his spare time drinking, doing drugs and chasing women. This one is assuredly for an older audience, but worth checking out.
